Chill Day

Hmmm.... Today I took a shower, but did not wet my hair. I did not feel like messing with it, so what I did was put some Krew Comb on my edges, used my spray bottle that has water and Mixed Chicks leave in Conditioner in it and pulled my hair into a high pony tail then wrapped my hair into a poofy bun. I accessorized with some earrings and calling it a day!

I love natural hair because I still have my waves and texture even if my hair is pulled up and away from my face.

Who says Natural Hair Can't grow???

I recently cut my hair in November of 2009. I cut it because my flat iron was damaging my hair. I knew it was damaged because my ends would no longer curl naturally... instead they just went straight. This was a problem for me and also resulted in me no longer using that Flat Iron. Now when I straighten my hair I use the InStyler, but that is another story. I am posting two pictures today with my hair in its natural state; one when I first got my hair cut in November of 2009(right), and Today June 7, 2010 (left).

I will also post what my hair looked like with the InStyler flat iron when I first got it cut and now.

Natural hair can grow when you take care of it. I am not an expert but I can say that my hair is healthy, and I love my natural hair, but don't mind straightening from time to time either.

5 years and counting....

I thought it would be best to say how long I have been natural. I have been on my journey for 5 straight years. I got my first perm when I was 23 and that lasted only 2 years. I didn't realize what I had. I missed my natural waves, kinks, and curls... and so did my husband.

I went for the big chop and made the hairstylist mad. I walked in and told her to cut every straight piece you see... and she did. Then as she was styling my hair she practically begged me to let her straighten my hair. AHEM, isn't that defeating the purpose??? lol! She told me my hair would look so much better straight. I told her my hair looks so good natural and that is what I am paying for.

She did not know how to style natural hair and was addicted to that hair crack. I told her to just wet my hair and put some product in it. It worked and I have been rocking it ever since.

Don't get me wrong, I will straighten my hair with the InStyler every now and then, but I love my natural hair. I hope you all love your natural hair too because it is beautiful.

Let no one tell you differently.

What NOT to do

My hair from what I have learned is a 3c, which is wavy, curly type pattern and very thick. The main thing I have learned is that I shouldn't comb my hair in it's natural state when it is STRAIGHT. This will result in breakage. I will post the products I currently use in a future post. Your natural hair can break easily so you should also comb your hair with a wide toothed comb from tip to root to make sure that you protect your hair as much as possible.
